This weekend I finally got to see some good old fashioned fireworks! Hurrah!
That's right. After missing out on my local display last weekend, I dug out my finest furry hat and made my way to the annual Ward household fireworks with The Boy.
As you can see, we don't mess around when it comes to lightin' up the sky. The whole clan gets together to set off zillions of rockets, catherine wheels and fountains, whilst nursing mugs full of mulled wine and roasting marshmallows over the bonfire.
You can see why this is a pretty important date in my diary, right?
It's a truly delicious affair.
I don't know what it is, but I find fireworks super romantic. Cuddling up and watching the lights whizz around in the air is always my most favourite part of the night.
Apart from dinner, of course!
A warming stew packed with chunky sausages, rich tomatoes and beans, all served up with buttery jacket potatoes and more mulled wine. There's two veggies in my group, but this recipe can easily be adapted with quorn sausages for all my non-meaty-eaty readers.
After we'd eaten our fill, we headed back to the garden and got desert on the go.
Roasted mammoth marshmallows. Gooey, sticky and oh so naughty sticks of heaven.
I managed four before retiring to the sofa for a cup of tea and X Factor, pretty impressive, huh?
How was everyone else's fireworks night? Did you get to roast marshmallows too?
