#ChilliChilliBangBang

ChilliChilliBangBang is a kinda joint birthday party for chilli's all around the world.

Hungry foodies huddle together in Dalston Yard to slurp on margaritas and chow down on chilli spiked street food from all four corners of the earth.

...And of course, catch any of the leftovers in their laps!

We arrived to bustling crowds and wafts of delicious smelling smoke before collecting our programmes from two friendly girls dressed as red chilli peppers.

Being the good little chica & chico that we are, we made a beeline for the bar.

We grabbed our Jose Cuervo cocktails (tangtastic tequila mixed with apple, apricot and lime juice) before taking a stroll around the place and checking out the goods.

The boy quickly spotted B.OB.'s Lobster van and we scuttled right on over.

First up, BOB's Chilli Spiked Lobster Roll. Buttery lobster sandwiched by two toasted hunks of bun, topped with kikin' jalapeno powder & a very necessary hand-wipe!

Unbelievably delicious and I ain't no big fish fan. Tummies lined, we grabbed another cocktail and headed for another pop-up.

Just as the heavens opened up and swallowed us whole.

We took cover under a little canopy which just so happened to house the Smoke Stak queue. We took our places in line and spied on the cooks whilst our ribs got cookin'.

Sticky, smoky, sweet and delicious, they were easily my winning dish of the day.

The meat fell off the bone and I could have quite happily whipped off my clothes and jumped straight into a vat of that chipotle BBQ sauce.

As usual I kept very cool and collected throughout my meal. I wouldn't want to go all cave-man in public or anything, obviously. Can't you tell?

After a lengthy baby wiping session the sun made a re-appearance and the crowds resumed their tequila drinkin', taco munchin' shenanigans.

Speaking of tacos, the Wahaca Pork Pibil variety stuffed with pink pickled onions and habanero chillies were pretty darn delicious too.

Especially when washed down with these badboys, tequila & pickled habanero juice.

The idea is to neck the tequila and immediately after swallowing, shotting the juice. It leaves your mouth and throat feeling nice 'n' toasty, if not a little coarse...

Well watered and a little woozy, we continued to eat our way around the yard.

Som Saa's Andy Oliver whipped up pork belly with 'mouse shit' chillies on betel leaf.

And my second favourite dish of the day, sliders from the Breddos boys at Slider Bar.

Three juicy patties tucked away in soft buns and stuffed with delectable treats.

My winner was the 5 chilli cheeseburger with jack cheese, aioli and bacon salt, & the boy liked the bacon and jalapeno cheeseburger so much he went back for seconds.

Don't say I didn't warn you. Thing's got messy.

Thanks to Wahaca and Street Feast for putting on a great weekend of grub, I absolutely loved it and I'll be first in line at ChilliChilliBangBang 2015. Pinky promise.

If you just can't wait until next year, head on over to Dalston Yard on Friday and Saturday's from tonight until 27th September for Dalston Yard Diners for the ultimate street food feast.

Entry is free before 7pm and £3 after. Taco 'bout a bargain, huh?

  1. No you wont be first in line. I will! Sorry we missed you there. It was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the mouse shit chilli sweet pork, and the Korean Hot Dog (badly put---a PORK sausage) with butter Kimchi, delicious chilli and cream cheese sauces.
